Quickstart
Create a workspace, connect Stripe and one cost source, and read your first gross margin in MarginMeter — usually in under ten minutes.
MarginMeter needs two things to show a gross margin: revenue (Stripe) and at least one cost source (AWS, OpenAI, Anthropic, Vercel or manual costs).
1. Create a workspace
Sign up with Google, GitHub or email. A workspace represents one product: it has its own connections, reporting currency, members and plan. You can create more workspaces later if you run several products.
Choose your reporting currency (USD, EUR, GBP, AUD or CAD). Amounts in other currencies are converted at the daily European Central Bank rate for the day they occurred.
2. Connect Stripe
Create a restricted key in Stripe with read permissions and paste it in Connections → Stripe. The import runs in the background — you can watch progress and leave the page. See Connect Stripe.
3. Connect a cost source
Pick the providers that make up your cost of serving customers:
- OpenAI and Anthropic with an admin key.
- AWS with a read-only cross-account role.
- Manual costs for everything without an API.
4. Read the Overview
The Overview answers one question first: is the business healthy? The verdict bar summarizes margin against your target and the biggest driver. Below it, the dollar breakdown shows where each $1 of revenue goes. Use What changed? to see which providers moved your margin since the previous period.
