Stripe revenue, MRR and fees — next to your costs

Stripe tells you what you earned. MarginMeter adds what it cost to earn it. Once Stripe is connected, every charge, refund, dispute and fee lands in a daily revenue ledger, and your subscriptions are turned into an MRR history with movements.

What you get

• Revenue that reconciles. Charges minus refunds and disputes, with tax removed where the invoice reports it. Each amount links back to the Stripe object it came from.
• MRR you can trust. Subscription prices are normalized to a month after discounts. Annual plans count as one-twelfth; trials and metered prices are excluded from MRR.
• Payment fees as cost. Stripe processing and billing fees are part of cost of goods sold, so your gross margin reflects them automatically.

How it works

You create a restricted key in Stripe with read permissions and paste it into MarginMeter. The key is encrypted with AWS KMS and only decrypted inside background workers. An initial import runs in the background; you can watch its progress live, and the dashboard fills in as data arrives.

Known limitations

• Revenue is cash-basis, not GAAP. Use your accounting system for revenue recognition.
• Usage-based (metered) prices are excluded from MRR; their invoiced revenue still counts.
• Plan changes that happened before you connected appear at the next invoice in MRR history.
